Monitor problems

Does or has anyone have/had problems with their Dell M992 monitor being fuzzy or distorted looking. The picture is not crisp and defined.
For lack of a better description: for those who use/need glasses, it is like the screen does not have it's glasses on? I have tried adjusting every setting, checked all drivers and downloads, and even checked posts on here but I cannot find anything to correct this. My wife has called Dell and they say it is a software problem dealing with XP SP2 and that our warranty does not cover support . They are asking $99 for support to fix this problem. Is this worth the money? Does anyone know what I am missing, it seems like I have tried everything?

Do you have the resolution on the monitor set to its recommended resolution/refresh rate?
Try changing the DPI to Normal (Right click on the desktop, click properties, go to the settings tab, click the advanced button, and on the general tab, the DPI should say 96).

I also am experiencing a fuzzy screen with the M992 monitor.  It seems to be getting worse, but my wife seems to think that it has always had a poor picture.  So have you been able to find a solution?  When I attach my wife's old NEC Multisync 50 monitor to my computer, the image on that monitor is fine.

Thanks for the help,

Chuck
