Monitor Problems

This is the second time that I've been having this problem.  I'll be using the computer and then all of a sudden the monitor turns off.  The power button turns yellow like it is on Standby mode.  The last time I had this problem I just shut down my computer and monitor down and left them both off for 6-7 hours and then turned everything back on and it was working fine.  Now it's happened again and I'm wondering if there is a better way to fix it.  If I turn the monitor off and turn the computer off and then turn the computer on first and then the monitor I see the Windows loading screen but then the monitor looks like it's going into standby mode right away again.  I always leave my computer on and my monitor and all of the air intake vents are dust-free.

My computer is a Dell XPS 400 and my monitor is a Dell 19 inch flat panel. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce 6800.

So... it doesn't sound like you've got a heat related problem and your video card is pretty high end. Have you tried any of the trouble-shooting tips in the post that is 'stickied' to the top of the forum? Probably best to work thru anything there that you haven't tried yet and see if it helps.

Would need some details in order to help. What monitor, computer, video card, drivers, etc - anything you can think to include could help.

Now I'm not sure if it's a system problem or a monitor problem because I just turned my computer on first and then the monitor and it started loading and there was a box in the middle of the screen that said auto-adjust in progress and then it loaded and went to the log-in screen. So I logged in and my desktop started to load but then it just reset itself and went back to the OS loading screen again with the same box saying auto-adjust in progress. It kept doing this a few times before I just shut everything down again. So is it a system problem now or a monitor problem?

Doesn't really sound like a monitor problem at this point, sounds like something else is going wrong. Probably best to call Dell Support and see what they can do to get you through this.
