Uninstall the driver again, reboot the system and install the video card ( Correct one I hope ) driver. Reboot the system once more, go into Display Properties, and reset the resolution after which click on Apply. Your system will go blank for a moment, then another window will appear in the upper left hand corner asking you if you want to keep the new settings. You only have a very short time to make up your mind, so click on OK. You are now done. Make sure you set the resolution to 1280x1024 for that 17 inch LCD. Let us know if this works. Also, install the monitor driver as well if you wish.
Sometimes, when you install the driver, and reboot, the resolutions will set itself. As in my case, but not always.
