Monitor shuts off by self??

Question

Greetings I am having problems.  I have had my computer for a few years and never really have had a problem until now.   When I turn on my computer it turns on as normal with the intro pages etc.  When it gets to the page that I have to enter in my password it goes blank.  I can see that it is still on and I enter my password and can hear everything start up as normal but nothing shows up on the screen.   I have tested the screen buttons and when pushed to adust colors etc the menus show up but nothing else will.   The monitor is a E153FP and is a Dimension 3000.   Please any one with advice I am more than willing to say Thank you.

What happens when you enter safemode?

* Click Start- Turn Off Computer- Restart
* At the blue Dell, tap F8 to bring up the Windows boot menu
* Scroll to and select Safe Mode, press the Enter key
* Select the first or only operating system, press the Enter key

I can see everything in the safe mode. I followed your directions and did a system restore to an earlier time. The computer does the system restore and then when it comes back on it does the same thing again.

When it gets to where I have to enter my password it goes blank and I enter the password and hear everything start up etc but I can't see anything.

Todd_777, Reinstall the video card driver in safemode and reboot. If still no go, your looking at an operating system reinstall.

Hi Chris, I want to let you know I love your help on my problem.  I talked to a friend of mine and told him what you mentioned to do.  He walked me through certain areas and I could not tell you what I did but I somehow went to an area where it ask to do a 'rollback' for the driver.  I did this and now everything is working fine.  I owe you a lot and thank you so much and I am sure you may know where I had to go to do this but like I said I could not explain it 'cause I followed my friend directions on the phone.  Long story short I don't have to buy a new computer and I am happy.   I will mention after I did the roll back windows update said I had an update to do and it was from Dell to install a Graphix upgrade.  I did this and everything at this time is working but if I go down again hopefully you will know where I left off.   Thank you!!!
