Monitor signal output

Sorry if this post is confusing but I will try to explain. I need to take a signal feed from a monitor and use it to be a source that I will capture on another computer. I do not have access to the original source computer, just the monitor. Is there a device like a splitter that will allow me to take the monitor cable and plug it in to this device and then have a way to send the signal to the monitor and to another computer using AV cables, etc so it can be a SOURCE in another computer?

Good question, you have to forward the signal from a monitor that has no audio or video output. Google splitters, whatever type the monitor is fed with, that is usually done at the source computer, like 2 outputs from the video card. In your case if it's component RGB or AV cables or other type of connector use a splitter to split the signal and you are going to need a video input in your computers video card to capture the video and an audio input in the audio card or onboard audio input and that depends on the type of input jack composite optical (can’t use that one), component digital (RCA). You’ll need extra cables from the splitter. Get it to sync up and capture what you see on the screen with something like Camtassia (produces huge .avi files) or whatever will do the job for you. DON’T FORGET: Hot plugging DVI, VGA and component cables is not recommended and may fry the source PC card and your PC video card and mobo you are inputting the signal to, so I don’t know how you are going to do this with out being able to turn off the source PC if you don’t have access to it. If you can’t turn off the source PC you can shoot the monitor with a camcorder also that sync’s to 60 Hz NTSC or 50 Hz if PAL. I think that's what you meant. Anyone else, any ideas
