Try disconnecting the monitor from the PC and turn it on, if still pink, need repair or replacement. If the test pattern appears, the videocard in the PC is bad. Is it under warranty?

Hi, thanks for your response.  About two minutes after I posted this message, it jumped back to its normal color, it was pink all day saturday.  Umm, well I glad its ok now.  I'm under warranty until July of this year so I hope it stays fine.

By the way can you buy extended warranties for your pc?

If it does it again, or even if not, let Dell know it happened. Good luck. I don't know if they will sell you an extended warranty, worth asking. Also, be sure the cables are secured properly.

My first PC came with a 17' NEC monitor, which 3 days after the warranty expired developed the exact same problem.  In a fit of anger I slapped the monitor on the side and surprisingly the monitor returned to normal.  Occasionaly it would revert back to pink, but a slap always fixed it.  If you're under warranty send it back now or be prepared to have to slap it around in the future.
