Dell branded monitors come with a 3 year warranty.  At one time, the monitors had a warranty that matched the computers warranty if purchased together, 1 year, 2 years etc.  This does not apply to you.  Call them up, ask to speak with a supervisor and correct this mistake.

I had a similar issue.  Tech support declined the 3 year warranty on a separate monitor purchased.  The Moderator at the time said the same thing and hours later the Moderator came back with a correction, that the monitor from Dell ( Dell branded only ) did in fact have a 3 year warranty.  Called tech support again and finally, finally got this fixed.
