Nintendo Wii + Component. Wide Screen
Hey I have the Nintendo Wii console connected via Component. In the settings I have it switched to its progressive scan mode as well as wide screen. Problem is under aspect the monitor does not well conform to its aspect ratio. It stays in 4:3 squishing everything. In 1:1 mode it properly displays in wide screen but well the resolution is far too small to actually be of use ;). Any way to fix this, workarounds?
My only idea is that the apsect is only reading the height, since in that case theres no distinction between 480p normal and 480p wide. It is only the width that changes resolution wise far as I know. At this point I cant see any way to fix it but just figure I give it a try ;) Maybe theres more with this issue, maybe someone who figured out a workaround. Everything else scales fine, VGA, HDMI, DVI all work perfectly but the resolutions I am pushing through that all have unique heights ;) (as in 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080)

Ninjikiran,
What specific monitor model? Are you using the Nintendo Wii Component Cable AV for HDTV/EDTV High Definition 480p cable.

2408WFP model A02.
Yea I am using the high definition cable(also had it in wide screen on my Television set), it works fine in wide screen but what happens on this monitor is it doesn't detect the proper widescreen aspect ratio. In 1:1 mode it does fine.
Stretching the image doesn't look that bad but if I could get it to properly display that resolution it would be great.
Basically what happens is if I set the Wii to widescreen and the monitor to "aspect" the screen stays in 4:3 mode squishing the image down. If I set the monitor to 1:1 pixel mapping mode it shows a proper image but is far too small for me to find useable(given the nature of it).
