P2417H, D3218HN, not detected on Windows 11 Lenovo laptop

I recently replaced my laptop because my old system was running Windows 10 and was not compatible with Windows 11. I am now on a "new" (to me) Lenovo laptop running Windows 11 and it will not detect the two Dell monitors that I have been using. The first is a Dell P2417H. Some locations on the Dell website say that this model does not have a Windows 11 compatible driver, but others suggest there might be. Lots of information coming in from searches saying that there should be backwards compatability and that a Plug-N-Play connection should work but I cannot seem to figure out how to make this work. Similar problem for my 2nd external monitor, Dell D3218HN. Yes, these are older monitors but their resolution or other features have never been a problem for me and it seems ridiculous to replace them (and expensive).

There are no dedicated Windows 11 drivers for these monitors.

The P2417H Drivers & Downloads page shows driver C8KJ6 released on April 21, 2016 for Windows 7/8/8.1/10.

The D3218HN Drivers & Downloads page shows driver 52WGP released on June 21, 2017 for Windows 7/8/8.1/10.

Windows 11 might see these monitors as "Generic Non PnP monitor" but should still work at 1920x1080 60Hz.

You might try installing those old drivers in "compatibility mode". But no guarantee that they will install.

@DELL-ChrisM2  I tried a number of different things and then it suddenly occured to me to by-pass the Dell dock that I use. When I connected the P2417H monitor via HDMI cable directly to the Lenovo laptop it worked instantly. From this I guessed that maybe the whole time the problem was that my Dell dock was not communicating with the laptop and I need to install the dock driver. It is a Dell DW15 dock - which is no longer supported and I cannot find a download for that driver. Would you be able to help me with that?

Good troubleshooting! Unfortunately, the Dell Dock WD15 Drivers & Downloads page no longer host drivers. It states =

All drivers for WD15, TB16, and TB18DC docks (including older versions) are no longer supported.
