P2715Q monitor, won't wake from sleep from power saving

Sorry, I know this is a re-post but I could not reply to those posts. My P2715Q (still in warranty) is not waking up from sleep. I have Dell and HP machines and after either machine goes to sleep and then wake up, the monitor does not wake up.

Dell: Windows 7, ATI Radeon, HDMI

HP: Windows 10, NVIDIA GTX 745, mDP (also tried with HDMI)

My Dell U2715HM does NOT have this issue (with either machines). All display drivers are up to date. Monitor has been reset to factory state.

I have tried calling Dell many times and they checked my Dell machine and settings are okay. The issue is very annoying. Any ideas?

I have a Dell Precision 5810 workstation that I bought over a year ago - and just never had a chance to setup.  I remember when I first put the thing together - I did have a huge amount of issues getting the monitor to wake up, to the point where I just hooked another monitor up to it.

So last week I got the system setup again - hooked up the P2715Q monitor - and when the system went to sleep, I couldn't get the monitor to wake up.  I wasn't sure what the problem was at first - and then I did some searching and found posts all over the internet about the wake up problems.

Well I decided that I was going to go dual monitor on this system - so I bought another P2715Q , which just arrived today.

The new monitor is a Rev A05 - the monitor I bought with the system is a Rev A01.

The Rev A05 monitor - does not have the problem.

So what do I have to do to get the Rev A01 monitor exchanged for one that doesn't have the issue?  I don't want to spend the next few years constantly pulling the power on this thing to get it to wake up......

Did this work permanently? What revision of the monitor did you have?

Just curious cause, I'm not doing an RMA. I don't have a spare monitor. Nor, do I have the time to waste on customer service reps. Yes, I'm a jerk and I'm lazy. :)

My solution if I can't fix myself is to never buy another dell product. Way I do things is brand loyalty. I decided to give Dell a try. They failed. So they'll miss out on thousands in future purchases.

Plus, I'll tell people to not buy dell, when they ask me for PC advice. It works. Got a buddy to steer clear last week. So the lesson here. Don't ship bad hardware without testing properly. Especially not 3 revisions. Your result is bad word of mouth from each customer's social circle. Losing sales.

If I get a solution that doesn't involve RMA, I'll buy Dell again, and I won't tell people to avoid them.

I Chris,

I have 2 x A01 and just found out about this issue and the HDMI 2.0 not being supported by this revision. I contacted Dell for a replacement and they informed me that my extended warranty is expired. I need to be able to use hdmi 2.0 on these monitors. It does not make any sense. Where can I find the firmware and instructions how to flash them myself.

Thanks,

Mat

So resetting the power saving features helped some, but I came up with a better jerry rig solution that's faster. I just put a powerstrip right on my desk right under my monitor. I cut the power to the strip vs pulling plug from the back. That fixes the issue for me.

3 dollar powerstrip for 700 dollar monitor what a joke, lol. It's just unacceptable at this price point. Anyway, I just wanted to share the tip. Later.

Thank you cyberjunkyfreak, your method of resetting the power saving settings via the monitor's menu has worked for my monitor as well.
