P3421W, Precision 5540 setup

Question

I have a work laptop (Dell Precision 5540 ) and a Dell WD19TB Latitude 180W Thunderbolt Display Port Docking Station. I am now working from home and at home I have my own monitor (Dell P3421W) that I don’t have anything hooked to.They want me to bring the docking station back to work and leave it. So I want to know if I can eliminate the dock altogether at home and just hook a keyboard and mouse (wired) and the laptop directly into the P3421W monitor using USB-C? Thanks for any input I can get on this ! I just want a simple plug and play easy peazy hookup.

Two options =

* Connect the provided power adapter to the Precision 5540 left side power connector port
* Precision 5540 left side TB3/USB-C port --> P3421W USB-C to C cable --> P3421W #6 USB-C port
* Wired mouse and keyboard into P3421W #9 USB-A 3.1 ports

-or-

* Connect the provided power adapter to the Precision 5540 left side power connector port
* Precision 5540 left side HDMI port --> P3421W HDMI to HDMI cable --> P3421W #4 HDMI port
* Precision 5540 left side USB-A port --> P3421W USB-A to USB-B cable --> P3421W #7 USB-B port
* Wired mouse and keyboard into P3421W #9 USB-A 3.1 ports
