P3421W, USB Type-C, DDM, Screen Usage
Hi community,
I just got a new P3421W and connected it via USB Type-C to my Dell Notebook. Everything is running smoothly, hardware plugged to the P3421W is recognized (Camera, Mouse, Keyboard) except for the fact that I cannot set zones on this widescreen monitor. So I always have the Tabs in fullscreen and cannot use it as "two monitors".
Hm..I don't know if this is understandable. The DDM (Dell Display Manager) functions only via HDMI. But I don't want to plug in additional cables and I need USB for the connected hardware.
Is there a workaround or other tool you could recommend?
Thanks

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the P3421W Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

Hi, I found it and replied. Since this is also a community forum, maybe somebody has an idea or can point me to a freeware tool to use with the P3421W?

Its not really clear what you are trying to do, but to use the P34 as "two monitors" you must run two video cables from your laptop to the monitor, and set the monitor into PBP 50/50 mode. DDM will recognize each side of the monitor as a separate display, and give you control over each side (within hardware limits, i.e., you obviously cannot run one side with brightness set at 50%, and the other at 75%) - just pick up the DDM window and move it to the side you want to control.

Hi...
no I´m using it as a singel monitor. It´s connected via USB-C with my Dell notebook. The mouse and everything is connected to the monitor (which is also not working so good - mouse is lagging and freezing).
I would like to use the "easy arrange" feature. It seems that the Displaymanger is not supported when using USB-C as connection.

Assuming you are using a recent version of DDM, it is either working or it told you in a notification why it is not working. These days the main reason it would not be working is because you have a Intel display driver that is broken, which is easily fixed by downloading the latest one directly from Intel here.
If you don't have Intel gfx, or the latest driver doesn't fix the issue, post the DDM diagnostic report: while holding down the SHIFT key, right-click on the DDM system tray icon and select "Save diagnostic report" from the popup menu.

Most anonying is the mouse right now. Using it connected to the monitor is not really fun. It´s lagging a lot and sometimes stopping to work for seconds.
Any Idea what one can do to solve that issue?

Hi guys,
so I just don´t get the display running as desired...the Displaymanger is working now, as long as I leave the notebook opened during use/connection. But the mouse and keybord are suffering from random disconnects which drives me crazy. Sometimes while typing keybord is just gone or it produces something like that "helppppppppp" like a key is stuck.
same is tru for my mouse. I tried all the ports but it seems not to make a difference. sometimes it helps when i turn the mouse on and off. Sometimes it doesn´t. Should I send the Display back ? It also suffers from a little bit flickering screen.
Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. I can't use the mouse proberly when it's connected to the montior.
Another problem is, that a lot of times the monitor just disconect all USB ports. Only a restart helps then.
Or when I wake up the laptop from energy saving mode the USB ports don't react from the beginning.
I also think about sending it back...
