Do not use anything with ammonia - it can permanently cloud the screen  Windex with ammonia-D is a bad choice. Other people have reported problems with ink pens and magic markers being used on the screens.  A good suggestion was to email the manufacturer of the pen and ask them what to use.

I would recommend using isopropyl alcohol (dilute 50/50 with water at first) and a cotton swab. Go stronger only if needed. Alcohol works wonders on removing various inks from clothing as well.

As a chemist (polymer/analytical chemist is how I fund my computer/gaming addiction), I can tell you that you should never use windex or any glass cleaners for lcds. The polymers used for the outer film and for the antiglare coating can react with acids and bases.

Someone else tried it at the following website and had no issues whatsoever

Thanks,

Thank you for the replies. The alcohol thing worked great with the cotton swab everything came off. I thought I would have to live with that in my face everyday. Also checked my windex and it has ammonia in it. I'll have to look for something without ammonia in it. Thank you so much again for the help.

WOW! I just erased a black sharpie off my laptop screen with the 50/50 solution of alcoho/water. Wow! I was NOT expecting that. I mean, it is TOTALLY gone. Thank you so much!
