Problem with Chaining 3 U2417H MST displayport
Hi - sounds like a related problem. I just got 3 U2417H monitors. Am running off of a 4 month old MSI GeForce 970 4GB video card with full size displayport . The monitors are all on but they all blink on and off intermittently. Usually 1-4 seconds one will go black and then back on. Tried switching out the Dell supplied cables with brand new cables - same results.
Any help?

To address the blinking issue, a new exchange (not a used exchange) must be setup to get the fixed A02 revision. These should be available in mid-October. Apologies for the long wait!
Read this for exchange instructions. In my FAQ, just ignore the part about new and used exchange policy. Be sure to point out to the Technical Support person that I stated new, not used.

First, test each monitor by itself on the computer. So three test.
Then, test all three in a two monitor setup changing which one is the Primary first in the chain.
1-2
1-3
2-1
2-3
3-1
3-2
Does the blink issue happen in these tests?

It occurs in ALL combinations including individual monitors. So if I only run ONE monitor via a displayport cable (*either Dell supplied or commercial), blinking will occur). Any combination of monitors above 1 will also occur as detailed in your recommendations above.
The video card fully supports DisplayPort 1.2 (it is MSI GeForce GTX 970)

Before getting them exchanged, you should test them on another system to verify that the issue follows the monitors.

Having the same issue. have 2 external monitors daisy chained and they both blink about every 2 (Monitor 2) to 5 minutes (Monitor 3) or so (meaning not very regular, but often enough to be very annoying).
my setup is a little different, but not much. a search revealed this appears to be in issue with many users daisy chaining with whatever computer, also with different Dell monitors like the 2415
Monitor 1 and computer:
MS Surface Pro 3 with i5-4300 CPU @ 1.90ghz 2.50ghz, 4gb ram, 64 bit OS
Windows 10 Pro v1511
Monitors 2 + 3
Dell U2417H, connected with Dell supplied cables with the monitors:
Tablet to Monitor 2: mDP out to DP in (Monitor 2 set to MST on, all other settings factory default).
Monitor 2 to Monitor 3: DP out to mDP in (Monitor 3 set to default facotory settings, but also had it on MST on and same issues)
While my post above may appear I know what I am doing, this stumples me. I can't connect both to the computer because only have one mDP out port. I could try with only one on if that's still the case, but I really hope this is a driver or software issue that Dell or Microsoft have addressed since it's been an issue for a while based on an Internet search. If yes, please let me know how to upgrade the driver softwares on the monitors or the Surface Pro 3.
Thank you.

I contacted Dell in India and spoke with Dominic and supervisor Roel; case number 927793135. Horribly wrong and out of date information provided. First they said MST is not supported on more than two monitors. Not true when run on 1920x1080 at 60 Hz. All sales literature says I am right but they had the nerve to actually say their sales literature and the manual is WRONG. They then said I needed a DP Hub - also not needed when you have montiors with built in MST and are within the capacities of the monitors and I had even asked that question in advance of purchase.
I reminded of them of the troubleshooting steps Chris took me through which flies in the face of their own advice. I should note there is one thing I mistated. When I run ONE monitor and TURN OFF MST support on the monitor, the problem disappears. But as soon as you turn on MST support, whether on one monitor, two monitors or three - the problem appears. Unfortunately I do not have a second system to try this on. My dell laptop (the new XPS 15) has a full a mDP port).
My desktop system is a brand new self-built system using an Asus Z170 Deluxe motherboard and MSI GEFORCE GTX 970 OC Video Card; i7 new gen microprocessor.
The techs cocluded tha tmy problme is "impossible" to be the monitors and there is nothing they would do. They told me to buy a hub.
I just want the system to work. Do I need a hub (which seem wrought with possibilities for failure) or should I upgrade to a GeForce 980 with 3 DP ports? Clearly these Dell Monitors have a problem with MST and as has become the norm your outsourced support is next to useless.
Any advice or ways to bypass going to India would be appreciated.

I have the same problem in a similar configuration. Pretty sure it's plainly a problem with the monitors.
I've had a bunch of computers of varying configuration do this.
