Problems with Full-Screen Display - Get Triangles

Question

I have a SP2008WFP monitor which works fine - but when I try to go to a full-screen diaplay on say You Tube (or with some games) I get diagonal line across the monitor with two differently colored triangles top and bottom. I have read in the forums that I can resolve this by turning off hardware accleration...but I cannot figure out how to do that? Any suggestions or alternative fixes?

When I go to do that it says 'your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware accelerator settings' and the box is grayed out--please help!
