Problems with video playback on 2007WFP

Hi there,

I just installed my new 2007WFP and it's working well with one exception - video playback.

With AVIs especially, I get banding all over the entire screen when playing videos with Windows Media Player (I've tried WMP 11 and WMP 10).

In addition, the entire screen flashes on and off periodically during playback.

Some more details:

- My system is a Dimension 8300, with a GeForce FX 5200 card.
- I'm using the latest nVidia drivers, and have been for some time.
- I never experienced this with my older Dell E152FP.
- The monitor is connected using the DVI connector.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

ajkerr,

In the OSD (on screen display), what Image Mode are you in? Did you try the others?

Hi Chris,

I was in Desktop mode, but I tried the other two, with no better luck. I haven't tried using the VGA connector instead of the DVI connector - do you think that's worth trying?

This is very disappointing to me - everything else about this monitor has been great, but this video playback issue is a showstopper.

Not only do I see banding across the screen, but the screen blinks on and off, as if it's losing its signal (i.e. you see the icon in the top left screen).

Thanks,
Andrew

I got a chance to hook up the VGA cable, and lo and behold, video playback is fine. So it appears that the issue is only when I use the DVI-D connection.

I suppose the problem could either be the monitor, or perhaps my card's DVI output isn't quite up to snuff? It's the GeForce FX 5200 card that came from Dell with my Dimension 8300 system - not sure who the manufacturer is.

This is good news/bad news for me. The good news is that I can use the monitor. The bad news is that I was hoping to run an older second monitor that doesn't have DVI off the VGA connector, which I can no longer do.

If anyone has any ideas on how I'd determine whether this issue is caused by poor DVI support from my card, or the new monitor itself, I'd appreciate it.
