PS3 and 2407... possible?

Just got my PS3, and I'm planning to hook it up to my Dell 2407.  Is it possible?  I currently have the PC hooked up via DVI, X360 via vga, how should I hook up the PS3?  Via component?  X360 looks horrible via component, and I'm assuming it'll be the same for the PS3.  Is it true?

I would love to have everything hooked up so I don't have to mess with disconnecting and connecting wires.  How should I go about this?

I just hooked up my PS3 via HDMI-to-DVI cable to my 2407 A02 monitor.  The PS3 recognizes 1080p and works great up to the menu and all game menus.  However, when you start playing a game, I start getting polygons that fill the screen and you can't make out anything.  For example, in the ps3 "resistance" game all buildings are polygons.  I see the gun and some bad guys but you can't play a game like that.  There is an issue with all the games.

I've had no problems playing Talladaga nights on the 2407 in full 1080p.  I'm flabbergasted as to why the games don't work.  I've even tried 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p with the same polygon result.  I've tried 2 games.  Full Auto 2 with the same polygon result for graphics.

Any help from ChrisM would be appreciated.

Sam.

All,

I have seen little success with HDMI-to-DVI cables. Did you try the composite cables that came with the PS3?

I was just wondering how did you guys get sound off the PS3? I'm planning to hook it up to the lcd monitor as well, but there are no speakers on it. I would like to use my current pc speakers, but how would I go about doing that?.

Chris, composite cables work but the idea is to get 1080p/1080i out the 2407.  I get the monitor at 1080p but when I go to play the games, I see polygon graphics.  It's weird.  I've mentioned that in my other post.

fyi...pretty much all ps3 games out right now don't have 1080i/p capabilities...
Most will be at 720 or 480...

How did you deal with the issue of sound for your ps3???

My computer speakers can take optical audio input.  I just connect the PS3 audio via optical cable to my computer speakers and it works fine.

Using a HDMI-DVI cable, I've had success with the Talladega Night disc and 1 game so far (NBA 2K7).  I have a few more games, but I haven't try them yet (COD3 and Marvel UA).  NBA 2K7 is only 720p, and I believe Marvel UA is 1080p, so I might try that one out tonight to see if it works.

Hello, Newcomer to Dell forums and I am sorry if this post is in the wrong place I am just Lost.

I have a Dell 2007 WFP Analog monitor with one  VGA and DVI Ports.

I had an Xbox360 , used a VGA cable to run it on the monitor and the Microsoft VGA cables had 2 audio cables which plugged into my dimension 2100 audio port.

I now only have a PS3 and want to use this monitor as well, I ordered a HDMI to DVI cable and I am hoping the monitor is HDCP compatible but my other concern is the audio. I have the speaker bar for this monitor, what do I do to hear sound or will it just work when I use the HDMI-DVI cables PC to PS3?
Do I need to buy separate speaker system and buy the audio/optical cables for this to work or will the monitor and speaker bar disperse sound with out any other items being bought. I'm almost broke.

Stupid I know but I am lost and I can't seem to find and answer on the internet. Any help would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I also have a 2007 WFP LCD screen from Dell and a brand new PS3 so I was wondering if you can get a 1080p signal to the screen and if someone could suggest a DVI to HDMI adapter that would work with this setup.

Thanks

the 2007 only has 1050 lines of resolution, there is no way to get 1080 lines out of it.  the best you are going to get is 720p stretched up.

I guess you are right. I get a 720p signal from my PS3 onto the 2007 via a HDMI-DVI adapter.

Still, it looks great! Too bad for those 30 missing lines:smileymad:

Ok for all still not sure or wondering I now have a PS3 and my fears were confirmed. The 2407 A03 works with the monitor just fine using hdmi to dvi but of course since it wont pixel map virtually everyhting is streched. I say virtually because some things are 720p and when they are you can select pixel 1:1 / aspect or fill.  But when things are 1080p you lose all control over it and it therefore streches the image out of wack 120 pixels. Making circles look like eggs and whatnot.

It will not produce 1080i over dvi which we all already knew. But the picture albiet streched looks good. So again now I see why so many people are up in arms with this not actually doing 1:1 pixel mapping. Funny how it doesn't mean much till it effects you, although I always knew I'd be upset sooner rather than later about it.

Hi,
I also have  a monitor 2007 WFP and I wanted to connect it to a PS3 and while the visual is great I cannot get the audio working although  I have bought the speaker bar AS 105. Where do I connect the green jack? There is no jack connection in the PS3! Did you solve your problem?
Many thanks
Piao
