Questions/Problems? with 1905FP Ultrasharp

Got today a 1905FP Ultrasharp and am running it from an 8400 with Nvidia Geforce 256 MB card (also brand new). Have it hooked up via DVI and screen resolution of 1280x1024. Looks pretty good but am disappointed with the controls: Brightness hardly dims the monitor (even going all the way down which normally blacks out the screen), color controls are rather weak (skins tones seem washed out and you can't go any higher in the red channel), no contrast in DVI control in DVI, etc.  Is it just me or is this normal? I read great things about this monitor but am disappointed in the ability to control resolution.

Thought I'd try here before Bombay.

Thanks for any help

If this is your first LCD, I think you will get used to it.  I had same reaction initially, and now I like it.  She if your video card will allow you to adjust the GAMMA.  It can help.

It all depends on your video card software.  Find your video card settings in control panel.  It may have its own category or be a pane within the display category.  Search around for gamma within that.  You should find it.  We both have NVIDIA.

Mine was just delivered yesterday. I also have the NVidia GeForce 256. My issue is that the white doesn't look like true white. It seems to be more of a cream color. I've tried playing with the red and blue levels with the monitor controls as well as adjusting the gamma in the Nvidia software. It still seems a little off to me. My video card does not have DVI.

Any suggestions?

I've made some improvements. I updated the video drivers, set the gamma to .9, and used the color settings to reduce the red to 95% and the green to 91%. It looks a lot better now. When I have a chance (and the money) I'll upgrade my video card to one that has a DVI output.

I wish I wasn't tied to 1280 x 1024 resolution, but increasing font sizes and the size of the title bars helps.
