Received new PC&LCD Today

Hi everyone.

I just received my new 8300 and 1801fp today and I'm afraid to set it up. I have been reading all of the posting on the problems with Dell flat panels I'm half tempted to just ship it all back. I got the ATI 9800 Pro video card in my system. Here is my question: Is there anything any of you would do right off the bat? i.e. Check settings, drivers,BIOS, etc. At thia point I don't have a lot of confidence that that it was shipped with all the fixes,i.e. Reduced Frq., Clear type settings, Power save stuff. Any help or advice you might have will be greatly appreciated.

I plan on firing it up tomorrow night!

Not everyone has problems, and the real damaging problems happens with the Nvidia card. In any case, if you want to be extra sure about the settings, use the Analog cable first. Then when you get all the upgrades installed and settings right, change to the DVI cable. There have been no reported problems with the Analog cable.

Hi - I have the 1800FP (the model before your 1801FP) and I even have the Nvidia 5200 card.  I have had it for 7 months now I have had no problems whatsoever on DVI.  There have been a lot of problems out there, but as Talmy has indicated there are many more people who have not had problems.  Set up your new machine and enjoy!
