Refresh Rate problem with M993s

I just got a new Dell, with 19" M993s monitor.  The only refresh rate which seems to work is 60 Hz, which is strange since the recommended setting is at least 75 Hz.  Anything greater than 60 results in a shaky, jittery screen.  My video card is the GeForce 256 MB.  Any ideas?

You can try and un-install the video card driver, use a driver cleaner linked below, and install a new driver from the web site.   This may or may not work, but give it a try.  Good luck

When you state your video card, make sure you include the video card name, not just its a GeForce 256 mb.  Look at my spec's below for an idea

Dim 4400 ( June 2002 )
2.6 ghz (upgrade from 1.7 ghz)
768 MB 2100 DDR Memory
Gainward Ti 4200 128 Mb, Nvidia
XP Home plus SP-2
17 inch Dell LCD monitor (1703 FP)
48 X CDRW

Thank you for your response.  I tried installing the updated nVidia driver as you suggested, using DriverClean, but it hasn't helped.  Still can't use a  refresh rate above 60 Hz.
