Uninstall and than reinstall the video card driver, and than go back into Display Properties to reset the resolution.  The driver might be corrupted and just needs to be installed again.  Make sure you have the driver handy for that video card.  You didn't do anything to the system did you to cause this to happen ?

Well, I fixed it by browsing other topics. And the reason for this was the fact I reinstalled Windows XP.
