I installed the CD first, which I believe said was for 8 preview. With this driver I did not see the yellow tint in windows photo viewer. Then I let windows 8.1 install the newer driver for me, since it comes up in the recommended updates. It doesn't give me any other information than that, says version 1.0.0.0.

I only see one driver for Windows 8.1? The other one is only for Windows Vista/7/8. Which one was loaded first, then second?

What was the exact name of the driver you loaded off of the CD?

Not sure what you mean. The files on the CD just say DELL S2240M, and they were created 3/18-19/2012.

In any case I refromatted again and didn't use the install CD, but just downloaded from the 8.1 link you replied with. I'm still seeing a yellow tint in windows photo viewer. I've read that this can be fixed by following these directions, http://optimwise.com/fix-windows-photo-viewer-yellow-tint-background/

but I'm not sure what effect that would have, since I do graphics work.

I just did it on my 2707WFP. Try it.

It works for all I know, but the dell driver is still broken. Photoshop even tells me so when I load it up, your ICC profile is defective.
