S2340T incompatible with Windows 10?
Hi,
As many of you I have installed Windows 10 on my Alienware X51 with a touchscreen monitor (S2340T). Due to some apparents bugs with the start menu, search, edge and the notification center that couldn't be opened, I reverted back to Windows 8.1. After some searches the monitor was listed as a potential source of conflicts. I reinstalled Windows 10 while connected to an old analog monitor, and the installation went smoothly and all functions were working properly.
I then decided to connect my S2340T, as I was hoping I had passed the initial hurdles, but no. The start menu and other Windows 10 functions cannot be opened anymore.
This monitor is apparently not Windows 10 compatible. However I thought W8.1 drivers should work in W10, no? Before moving to W10, I had installed the latest monitor drivers as well as the latest DisplayLink drivers (I was using the touch option).
Is there a chance that my monitor will ever work in W10? If yes, what is the solution to this problem?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help and advices you may provide!
- Greg

Hi,
The post above was referring to the following web page stating that "Windows 10 Operating System not supported for this device".
www.dell.com/.../drivers
Can it be clarified whether this monitor will ever be supported (with new drivers)?
All the diagnostics I have run indicate the screen functions properly, however the incompatibilities with W10 are not detected.
Should I trash this screen and get a new one?

I've an S2340T and an XPS 8700 - just gone to W10 and it's 98% working fine. The 2% that isn't relates to the fact that if the monitor goes to sleep (either on it's own, or when the whole systems sleeps) for more than a few minutes, it crashes the system when it wakes up. Just starting to dig into this, so don't know about drivers, causes or whatever as yet. But your initial question, yes it does appear to work with W10, but dunno about 'supported' or '100%' as yet :)

Hi,
I would like to know whether Dell will ever release new drivers (compatible with Windows 10) for the S2340T monitor? If not, how can Dell justify a product life of only 3 years for a monitor that costed me 759€ back in 2013.

Was the monitor USB upstream cable connected to the computer while using Windows 10?
If yes, did the Touch function?
Did you attempt to install the Windows 8.1 compatible driver into Windows 10?
DELL_S2340T-MONITOR_A00-00_0N9PX.exe
In 10, did you install the Windows 10 GeForce GTX 660 driver?

Thanks for your message Chris!
I did try both the HDMI cable or the USB cable (one or the other). With the USB cable, the Touch function worked, but in both cases I could not open the start menu and other W10 options.
I recently moved the HDMI cable from the mother board to the GTX 660 port. The start menu can then be opened, but for some reasons W10 wants to install older drivers than the one available on the Nvidia website.
With the USB cable the problem persists.
I did install the latest monitor drivers (the one you mentioned). I also installed the latest DisplayLink software.
For now I have connected another monitor. I will keep an eye for drivers for the graphic cards, maybe the problem lays there? Can you tell me whether Dell will also issue new drivers for the S2340T monitor?

The USB upstream cable must be connected for Touch to function. As far as I know, no. They said that the statement here applies to this monitor.
Does the Windows 10 Device Manager show that the monitor is connected by displaying it as, "Generic PNP Monitor"? (Yes/No)
Do the computer and monitor allow the monitors native/prime resolution? (Yes/No)
If a touch monitor, does touch function? (Yes/No)
If yes to the above, then the computer has correctly read the monitor EDID and a dedicated Windows 10 driver in not required for normal operation.
