S2409W, 50Hz?

Hello People.

Am thinking of purchasing the DELL S2409W mainly for use as a cheap way to watch HD & SD TV recordings with my media pc. I have a specific question regarding the monitors refresh rate (vertical frequency).

As the TV recordings are all in PAL (UK), it would be preferable to set up the monitor with a refresh rate of 50 Hz in order to avoid any juddering, as PAL uses 25 fps. The user guide of this monitor states that the refresh rate can go as low as 50 Hz. However, can the monitor actually be manually set on a pc using DVI with this refresh rate of 50 Hz at the full resolution of 1920 x 1080, as this would be the ideal setting for me. Has anyone tried it?

Added to this, having read a bit of info on the interweb, it appears that most lcd monitors actually only display at 60 Hz even if they allow you to input at other refresh rates, such as 75 Hz, as they just change the refresh rate back to 60 Hz inside the monitor. Does anyone know if this happens with this monitor too, i.e. it doesn't matter what refresh rate you set, cos it'll just display it at 60 Hz anyway?

Would really appreciate someone posting back with any info about all of this.

Thanks
