S2417DG, vertical lines left half
Hello,
I've been experiencing the annoying issue of having weird vertical lines appear on the left half of my screen in both static images and videos. An example of this happening is shown below.
This issue happens a couple of times every hour, and the lines stop showing after a couple of minutes. It happens on both 144 Hz and 165 Hz. I have tried using another DP cable as well. The monitor is connected to an Asus GTX Titan X. I have also tried switching ports with my other monitor, but that one seems to be working fine and this one has the same problem. I am not sure whether this is a video card or monitor issue. Could anyone help me finding this out? Thanks in advance.

We had almost identical problem starting this morning with our old Dell 3008WFP monitor displaying lines on the left side - looked like yours. There was some info online pointing to a possible bad ribbon connector - oxidation on the metal connectors. We took the monitor apart (big job) and carefully cleaned the metal pins, let them dry thoroughly then tested it out - no lines! We put the monitor back together (bigger job) and here we are several hours later still no lines (fingers crossed). Don't know if cleaning helped or re-seating the cables helped but something worked
Monitor seemed to have lost some settings after reconnecting to PC so we used the softMCCS app that Chris M recommended in this post ( https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/How-to-reset-the-monitor/td-p/2394554 ) Monitor now looks better than ever - thanks Chris M!

Also want to mention we did all the usual steps - shutting everything down, unplugging, checking exterior cables, changing cables from DVI to VGA to HDMI, miscellaneous troubleshooting steps etcetera before launching into the monitor disassembly...

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Since I still have over 2 years left in my warranty period, I am not comfortable opening my monitor. It does help a lot finding out whether the issue is caused by the video card or the monitor.
Did the issues on your monitor happen randomly as well, or was it permanent?
Please let me know when the lines appear again! (But hopefully they won't :))
