I wish I knew. Due to past indiscretions by other Dell Social Media representatives, firmware revision data is no longer released to us.

From what I can gather A01 are not HDCP compliant and its fixed in A02.

Also I hear A03, not sure about A02, has a lighter, better coating on the screen.

I just got an A01 delivered. When I get home I'll have to test it out, cry, and return it.

The lab just tested an A00 and had no issues playing a BR-DVD using HDCP.

Received mine. It is version A03 May 2016 build. A rather fresh build.

KoRnGtL15, out of curiosity was that from BestBuy? From what I can tell BestBuy has the A03 but Newegg keeps pumping out A01's.

I just opened up the A01 and it has no HDCP support, surprise surprise.

I'm still waiting to get a gtx1070 so in the meantime I dont know where the Radeon settings report HDCP but this Cyberlink app also does it. My old 24" 1080p passed on there so not a video card/system issue.

Indeed I did get it from Best Buy.com Newegg is handing out really old stock. Read many complaints with this older stock being passed around through them. Having HDCP is quite a big deal for many. Dell should just pull the non compliant versions. Or put them on a fire sale with a warning about no HDCP support.

DELL-Chris M, how would an RMA work in my case?

I have it new from Newegg and its an A01 which research seems to indicate was a troublesome batch. Is that reason enough to RMA, and/or HDCP not supported?

I would like to know the same. I just received mine from Newegg this morning and the box shows Oct. 2015 manufacture date with A01 revision. I've been researching this quite a bit while waiting for the shipment and also checked with a coworker who ordered at the same time. His A01 from that date (along with many others) reports no HDCP support. I'm hesitant to even open the box and wondering what my best course of action will be. Should this go straight back to Newegg? If I hook it up and it reports no HDCP compliance is that grounds for a warranty exchange from Dell?

In the meantime, I have another on the way from Best Buy so I'm hoping for better luck there.

My advice, return them to Newegg. Spend a little more and purchase NEW from Dell. This way you will be assured of getting a monitor with the latest firmware. You will also get a unique Dell customer number, order number, service tag number, all tied to you. If you decide to go through Dell for an exchange, it will be a used/refurbished replacement with the latest firmware installed. The label may not be changed, but all returned/resold monitors get the latest firmware installed on them.

On the Alienware desktop in the lab with the GeForce GTX 980 and the S2716DG A00, we successfully played a blu-ray movie using =

GeForce GTX 980 HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> S2716DG HDMI 1.4 in 2560x1440 60Hz
GeForce GTX 980 DP out --> DP to DP cable --> S2716DG DP (DisplayPort) 1.2 in 2560x1440 60Hz/144Hz

Just so you guys know. Dell will price match Best Buy through chat. But, if you want to use Paypal. They cannot price match using that payment option. With in the last 48-72hrs of owning my new monitor. It has developed a dead pixel smack dab in the lower middle side. If you buy it through Dell. They will not exchange for you with a dead pixel.

You must have 6 or more. Going through retail like Best Buy. You could choose to return it. Even just for 1 dead pixel. I am keeping mine though. 1 is not enough for me to return it. Every thing else is perfectly fine with this monitor. I am hoping it will just go away over time.

I know you mean well but through Dell that would be $190 more, and tax, so $220 or so.

I may need to look into return it as now I'm occasionally experiencing random flickers. Screen turns back for a split second and comes up fine.
