S2721H, display is going to sleep in 4 minutes

Just purchased today a Dell monitor and every time I shut down any HDMI equipment connected to it, the monitor displays the message "The display is going to sleep in 4 minutes" instead of entering standby mode instantly.

Any of my older monitors do NOT have this issue, they just power off automatically after the HDMI signal is no longer present.

It is very annoying to see this message every time for a full 4 minutes after shutting down the equipment.

I found here the same issue for an older dell monitor that can be disabled through the FSM (Factory Service Menu)

Solved: U2417H, "The display will go into PSM in 5 minutes" - Dell Community

But on my model  there is no such option as ES Logo to set to off, instead there are many other options that I do not know if they are related or not.

Can anyone help to disable this message?

Thanks

I solved (or worked around the issue) by buying an HDMI cable of a better quality and the problem is now gone. The monitor is going to sleep as it should.

Diagnosing the difference between the two cables, I found out that the cheaper cable did not have all the grounding pins connected, but the more expensive cable had all the wires connected internally. It seems that the Dell monitor is really picky and do not accept HDMI cables which do not have all the wires wired properly.

I do not know any other monitor brand that does this.

But at least now with the new cable all works as it should. Hope this helps someone!

You should not make changes in the Dell internal FSM (Factory Service Menu). If you make a change there and break the monitor, the warranty is voided.

Turning the PC off is the same as disconnecting the HDMI cable, which by design will result in this =
