Screen Resolution

I have recently had to re-install Windows XP. I have downloaded the correct monitor drivers according to www.dell.com , but in settings, it still won't let me change resolution from 640 x 480 and 16-bit colour.

Can anyone help with this?

Have you installed the video card driver ?  If not, do so, than go into Display Properties again, and change the resolution, click Apply, after which the monitor will go blank, than another box ( Monitor Settings Box ) will appear and you must click YES.   Than click OK again in the final box and you are set.
