SE2722H, MacBook Pro, low resolution

I got a Dell SE2722H and wanted to use it as an external monitor to my MacBook Pro. I was using a HDMI cable and then converted to USB-C to connect to my MacBook Pro. However, the resolution in the external monitor is super low no matter how I change the settings. The words are very fuzzy and can see the pixels around the letters. I am wondering if this is expected with this SE2722H model? Thanks
