SP2309W buzzing and microphone (2) problems?
I recently received the second SP2309W and it exhibits the same 2 problems as the first. One is a buzzing sound coming from just behind and below the camera, which goes away if I turn the brightness all the way up. I've tried plugging directly into an outlet (no UPS), turning off the audio channels (including microphone), disabling the webcam (once by unplugging the USB cable) and other fixes to no avail. ANyone seen this and/or solved it?
The microphones on this monitor don't appear to pick up anythng with any gain at all. The microphone test in VIsta barely registers on the meter bar, regardless of how loudly I yell. The microphone 'volume' is 100 percent in the VIsta Sound control. Any thoughts?
Sorry for posting two problems in one, but could they be related?

I also have the buzzing problem, and I fixed it the same way you did. This one was a refurb for the 23" model that doesn't have the hdmi, USB or webcam so I don't want to send it back as this one is worth $200 more than I paid. Also there are no dead pixels on it ( the prob with the other one) The repair guys were sneaky thou and had the monitor set to video and not graphics in the settings so that it wouldn't start buzzing. Soon as you do a reset it goes back to graphics and it buzzes away. Bought this one for watching movies anyways as my other monitor is a 24"er 19X12.
See if I can handle the brightness over the weekend. Would kick myself if they sent the other kind of 23"er and I lost this model. I can see lots of uses for the HDMI port with my 360 and PS3.
Now that I think about it thats most likely why they sent me this model. Figured after I saw it was the higher resolution I would want to keep it. they are right.

Dell has been very good about addressing this, sending a replacement quickly then putting me on a notice list for when their engineers fix the problem. It sounds like you got a pretty good deal out of this. Aside from the worked-around buzz and the fact that the mic won't pick up any significant sound, I'm very impressed with the monitor. It's probably the clearest image I've had on any monitor to date, and it's aesthetically pleasing in general.

dspeck,
Keep the brightness at 100% and lower the contrast to desired level. The buzzing will still be gone.
