ST2421L Front Panel Controls

Hello, first post on the Dell forums so hopefully I did this correctly.

I just purchased a Dell ST2421L LED monitor.

I was wondering if the front panel controls (the power button and the 4 small circle buttons) on the bottom of the right edge of the monitor are supposed to light up, either all of the time, or when you hit one of them to activate the OSD? In pictures I've seen of the monitor, they look like they might be lit up, but it could be room lighting reflecting off of them.

The buttons just seem like they'd be easier to use if they lit up at least when you touched one of them to activate the menu. Mine do not light up and are barely visible so sometimes I miss the button I'm trying to hit.

thanks.

The buttons only light up when pressed.

Thanks. The buttons on the frame of my monitor never light up at all, even when pressed. I called Staples (where I purchased the monitor) to see if the buttons on the model they had on display light up when pressed and was told they weren't lighting up either.

I suppose it's possible that both the one I purchased and the one they have on display have a hardware problem, but I wanted to double-check. If they're really supposed to light up and returning to Staples may not be an option since theirs seem to be doing the same thing, would this fall under my Dell warranty?

I have 2 of these and the buttons do not light up on either of them and never have. Recently the buttons stopped responding is there a fix for this?

Sirhohenheim,

* Turn the computer and monitor off
* Disconnect all monitor cabling from the monitor (power, USB, VGA, DVI, etc.)
* Press and hold in the monitor power button in for 5 seconds
* Reconnect the monitor to the computer
* Reconnect the monitor power cord to the monitor
* Turn on the monitor, then the computer
* Test the buttons. If still no go, the monitors will need to be replaced by Dell Order Support http://dell.to/ucbBIj . Provide to them the following data -
