stuck pixel - U2711
Good day,
I am new here and would like to ask about stuck pixels on my new U2711. Thank you...
Here's my story. I bought a new U2711 3 weeks ago and after hooking it up, I noticed there was a red thin line from bottom to half way of the lcd when its on black background. I have informed Dell support and replacement is on its way. (2 thumbs up on you guys!!!)
Yesterday, the replacement arrived and then hooked it up for testing. I was quit disappointed as I noticed scattered stuck pixel on the left side of the screen. Everything is all good except of the left side. I think I saw 4 red ones, and about 15-20 blue/green ones. Is this alright or normal?
I have tried DPT to fix it but had no luck...
I dont want to apply the pressure technique on a very expensive and new lcd ...(a big NO...NO)
Anyway, I rang dell support again and they said, give it a week and observe..then ring them again for update...
May I know your suggestions on my case?
Thank you,
R

masterboknoy,
* Go back to the top of the Monitor Forum board
* Open the Monitor FAQ
* Open the Announcement, Pixel Policy

Thanks for your reply DELL-CHRIS.
Yes, i have read the pixel policy before hand..Do you think i should wait for a week? As the dell-tech lady said, to give it a week then give an update, because what I have now is a replacement already.
Im still running it with DPT and still no progress..
Thank you,
R

Dells 'Pixel Policy' is quite frankly a disgrace.
A brand new monitor should not exhibit a single dead/stuck pixel.

Thanks dumpystig. It my first time owning a dell product and im thinking not to buy another one. :) Maybe its just not my luck.. :)
I asked that dell-tech lady if the the stuck pixel is normal on new monitors..... and she said, 7-10 dead pixels is nomal. ... :(

@ masterboknoy - you're welcome pal. As regards 7-10 faulty pixels being normal... that's at the very least laughable.
@ DELL-Chris M - no disrespect but I didn't say it was confusing... see the above posts. I doubt anyone purchasing a used monitor, let alone a brand new one, would go ahead and buy it knowing there were 7-10 faulty pixels.

I admit that the Dell Pixel Policy can be confusing. The U2711 is an Ultrasharp monitor so test it this way -
* Change the windows background to all Black color with no image on it. If you see a stuck pixel that is permanently white, red, green, or blue on the all black background, that means it is a Bright Dot Pixel defect.
* Ultrasharp, Professional, Alienware monitors = 1 or more Bright Dot Pixel defect justifies a replacement monitor
* All other Dell monitors = 6 or more Bright Dot Pixel defect justifies a replacement monitor
* Change the windows background to an all White color with no image on it. If you see a stuck pixel that is permanently black on the all white background, that means it is a Dark Dot Pixel defect.
* Ultrasharp, Professional, Alienware monitors = 6 or more Dark Dot Pixel defect justifies a replacement monitor
* D series monitors = 9 or more Dark Dot Pixel defect justifies a replacement monitor
* All other Dell monitors = 6 or more Dark Dot Pixel defect justifies a replacement monitor
Does that help clarify your issue?

i am agree with dumpystig. a brand new monitor taken out from a sealed box should not have such kind of defect. don't you guys(dell) did quality inspection before packing your products?

thanks guys...dell is sending me a replacement again...
i hope the coming one has no problems
I admit. dell has a good support in regards on replacements..thumbs up to you dell..
Honesty, I just dont like the feeling of always asking replacements, as people tends to hate people who complains too much..
Sorry...all I want is to have what i expect and what I paid for...
Ihank you

A faulty monitor is one thing. But sending out a replacement that is also faulty is just wrong and shows Dells incompetence regarding both QC and aftercare.
And you will find too many instances of people receiving a second replacement (third monitor) that is also faulty.
Not to mention the hassles involved regarding the infamous Service Tag, or the red/green tint fiasco.... and these are marketed by Dell as high-performance monitors.
Incidentally I have both a U2410f and a E248WFP.
