U2410 colors yellow - Photoshop CS4 reports "Monitor Profile 'Dell U2410' appears to be defective"

I recently purchased a U2410 - which I love.  It gives me excellent color range and fidelity.

However, when I start Photoshop I get the message in the subject line.  If I select the option to "use anyway" I get an image with a starkly yellow tint - as I do in ANY app that uses the profile.

The U2410 comes with a great quantitative report on the color fidelity of this individual monitor as tested by hardware.  I really want to have the proper Monitor Profile, which I'm certainly not equipped to provide.

Anybody else have trouble with their profile?   Will I have to return the unit?

All,

Agreed and I will push for this. But, if this occurs, it certainly will not happen until 2010. Until then, use the 2408WFP icm.

An updated U2410 icm will be released eventually. However, it will take some time as it needs to be debugged against photoshop and then WHQL certified.

Chris,

May I ask why this debugging wasn't done in the first place?  The U2410 is designed for enthusiasts/professionals who work with images, and the single most popular image app is Photoshop.  Is it the case that the problem only shows up on some systems, and not all?

I am also having the same problems but now am using the profile generated by TFT Central I completely deleted the Dell drivers and run the profile from here one thing to note is the monitor needs to be set to "standard" in the OSD

A question for Chris if it so easy for these guys to sort this out how come it is such a hard and long process for the Dell engineers/techs to resolve the problem

Chris,

Just so we're clear, there are no "drivers" for the monitor.  All it is is an icm color profile that works across operating systems.  It's just a data file.

Besides, I think it's obvious what we have now hasn't been tested anyway. Any ICM color profile aware program has issues (Even on a Macintosh!).

I'm glad it's not just me.  I have the same problem.  I have the U2410, Win 7 - 64 bit and CS4.  The Adobe error is annoying, but the real problem is in Windows Photo viewer where all the images have a yellow tint.

Just for the record, I don't have a pronounced yellow tint in any application, just the error from Photoshop.  However I would like to know that the colours I see in Photoshop are correctly calibrated, so that any adjustments I make to my images are going to display correctly on other monitors, in print etc. - hence the need for the correct profile.

Try the 2408WFP.ICM file.

I am trying this profile and it is a lot better then all the greenish.

On which preset mode of the monitor was this profile generated (Adobe RGB or SRGB or one of the others) ?

When the right and working profile for the U2410 is released I hope it comes for both SRGB and Adobe RGB anyway.

Thanks,

Frank

* I really do not know the answer to this. I will certainly ask them to check PS on future models.

hydrotoast,

* It is just the process we have to use. We have to prove the fault, then show them so they can replicate it. Then, they have to fix it.

Chris,

Just FYI, I got the ATI FirePro V5700 the other day and installed it.  I enabled 10-bit color mode and re-tested everything to see if the icm was designed for that type of system instead of 8-bits, but the problem showed up there as well.

I am experiencing this problem ("Monitor Profile 'Dell U2410' appears to be defective") with Photoshop Elements 7 as well.  FYI I have a U2410, Windows 7 x64 and Radeon HD 4890.

* Download 1332592.zip to your desktop
* Right click 1332592.zip
* Click Extract All
* Click Next- Next- Finish
* A folder will open
* Open the driver folder
* Open Photoshop and tell it to use that ICM. Does it error out? If not, does it look better?

Any update on the status -- or a ETA on the arrival of a 2410 (rough ballpark) like potentially by the end of Jan?

Nope. They are still testing one.
