U2412M, DP, strange issue

I have a U2412M and I use displayport. I've never had this issue ever before. I play an internet game and they are working on a new improved client and some players were invited to a beta test for it. Moments after I try it, my monitor goes into power saving mode. This has happened on 4 different occasions - always when I try the new client. During the last time, I had my monitors settings way down and it didn't help. There's nothing I can do except restart when it happens. Being a beta server, I figured it was just a bug but I found it odd. I looked on the forums and no one else is experiencing this. I have a very powerful computer. I posted on the forums about it and a moderator simply told me that I was having hardware issues. Two users are guessing it's my GPU or monitor. No one else is answering though. Any idea what's going on or what I should do?

What operating system?
What specific game?
What are the game hardware and software requirements?
What specific video card?
What ports are on the video card to test?

I would turn both the computer and U2412M off. Disconnect the DP cable from both. Connect the DVI cable to both. Power on and retest.

I'll try it but... I've heard that DP is superior to DVI.  I'd be missing out on the updated graphics.  Bleh.

On this monitor, they are both going to do 1920x1200 60Hz. The only minus is DVI does not carry audio. At higher resolutions 2560 and greater, I would agree with you.

I tried it.  It happened again.  After so many forced-shut-downs, my OS almost didn't want to start up.  I can hear a windows error message pop-up when it happens but I have no way of seeing what it says.  I've noticed this too... my stats are way above what they recommend... and the game lags on ultra settings.  That shouldn't happen with my stats for such a low-requirement game.

I just reformatted the other day and everything is up to date.  This makes no sense.  I understand it's a beta server but it shouldn't force me into something that I can't escape.  I seem to be the only person going through this.  I've searched the forums there for a long time.

I would test other non-beta games. See if the issue follows to a different game. If not, your hardware is not the fault here.

Thanks for your help but I'm giving up.  Too frustrated and expecting to be pointed all over the place.  Just gonna hope its the beta, even though I'm solo with this experience
