U2412M Widescreen resolutions...

Hi,

Just installed U2412M on my dad's machine (XP Pro, SP3, msi N8400GS video card). Using DVI connection. nVidia control panel doesn't seem to know that this is a widescreen panel. Only some of the 16:10 resolutions are offered. 1440x900 is not there, nor is 1280x800. In addition there are resolutions that are higher than the maximum resolution. When I go into the advanced display settings the Monitor Type is "Plug and Play Monitor". This makes me wonder if the drivers for the monitor were not installed. Do I need to go to the Drivers folder on the CD and install the U2412M.inf file?

Also, I noticed on the drivers download page for monitors that in the dropdown list for Win2000/WinXP the U2412M monitor isn't even listed. What's up with that? The monitor is listed in the Vista and Win 7 dropdowns. Will the inf file on the CD solve this problem and will it work on my XP machine?

Thanks very much for any help

* Normally, yes. Otherwise the U2412M will not show in the Device Manager.

The Vista and 7 drivers are the same file. Does the CD even have an XP driver?

Thanks, Chris,

I installed the driver per the instructions in the readme file on the CD. Don't know why I didn't look through the root of the CD - I should know better. Anyway U2412M now shows up in the Device Manager. It didn't solve the widescreen resolutions problem so I created a custom 1440x900 resolution in the nVidia Control Panel and it passed the test so I am just using that custom resolution. Must be the nVidia drivers. Same monitor on my XP machine driven by an ATI card has all the widescreen resolutions.

Thanks for your help.
