U2413, blue tint
Hi,
I have a Monitor U2413f (Jan 2013). All Videos (e.g. local *.mov or youtube HTML5 in Browser) have a blue tint - sometimes. It changed irregular. The rest of the displayed content is normal - only Video and a frame of ca. 10 pixels. While I'm looking for the cause of trouble I determine, that there's a problem with communication between monitor and computer:
I reduced the saturation of the monitor to zero (means black-and-white) and the Video continues being coloured (screenshot! How can I add a picture?).
What is going on there??? Please, somebody could explain me that? Maybe there's a solution?
OS Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI] Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [1462:7851]

Unknown since we never tested the U2413 in that Ubuntu operating system.
We have no way of knowing if the lack of a Ubuntu specific U2413 driver is the culprit or the Ubuntu video card driver is the culprit. You need to test the U2413 on a windows based system and be sure to install the windows operating system U2413 INF driver. Then retest.

ok, a special driver, let's see later...
First, I send you 2 screenshots. Please notice, that all is black-and-white except the display-menu and the active video.
Ubuntu 16.04:
and
Windows 10:

and now with the driver installation...
Windows 10 with driver above
One thing else: it is the second monitor with exact the same behavior (Ubuntu 16.04 and a bluray-Player)
Maybe it is a firmware bug?

Honestly, I do not see a blue tinting. The skin tone looks fine to me.

Hi Chris,
"The skin tone looks fine to me." No, sorry:
1. It should be black-and-white! Not colored!
2. Problem "blue tint" and "no black-and-white" are the same Problems. So I didn't send you the screenshot with the blue tint.
The Problem is: the Video seems to have it's own color-space - independent to the rest of the display-content. If I set the Display to warm color - the Video has a blue tint. If I increase "red" on display, Video keep going on "normal" (with blue tint). If I reduce saturation (black-and-white), Video keep going on colored. The blue tint was only the first indication, that there's something wrong. Please forget the blue tint!
Best regards

Hi Chris,
"You need to ask the Linux users."
Sorry, but as I mentioned 2 times there is a general Problem with the monitor, as well as for Windows.
You said my Monitor supports only Windows. I should install the driver and use Windows "Then retest." I do so! And now it is a Windows-Problem as well!
It is ok, if you've got no idea, what to do. But please could you ask your design or development team? Finally I did everything, what you want. And the Problem is still there.
Best regards

No clue. I do not think that the monitor is at fault here. You need to ask the Linux users.

You can initiate an exchange to see if the replacement has the same issue. Also compare the two serial numbers and revisions.

Hi Chris,
"You can initiate an exchange to see if the replacement has the same issue."
Sorry, but as I mentioned I've tested the second Monitor U2413 already. (Two different serial numbers and revisions, I checked that).
Yes, the first Monitor was not tested on Windows, but with a bluray-Player and the Ubuntu-System. But it shows the exact same behavior on that machines, so it is assumed that windows concerned as well.
I would avoid to ship the device the third time, if it is a firmware bug, possibly...
I ask some other forums. All people were surprised about that screenshot ("never seen before"). It is not that kind of failure, that becomes from bad to worse over lifetime. It must be a general Problem.
Why the Video ignores the color-setting of the monitor? You can't explain that with warranty. It is the second Monitor!
Best regards
