U2422HE, Ethernet connection dropping
Dell U2422HE
We have a few of these monitors (Dell U2422HE) that have networking connections being dropped from frequently to here and there. There does not seem to be any correlation with the network drops and the tasks that are being done on the laptops. The laptops that we use are Dell Latitude 7420. We also have some users who have had not any issues with the network drops at all.
The configuration we have with these monitors using Type-C cable that does DP, as well as access to the docking ports (USBs, and Ethernets.) The Type-C is also powering the laptop as well.
The following configuration is what I have tried;
- Have tried multiple ethernet cables
- Firmware of the monitor is up to date as of Sept 2021 (as per driver that is available on the Driver's page for the service tag we have.)
- Have reinstalled the ethernet driver for the model multiple times
- Have noticed that some monitors show no number at the end of the driver name in Device manager, some show #2 and #3. Not sure if that has any affect on the driver it self?
-
ethernet adapter in device manager
-
Realtek Usb Gbe Family Controller #3
-
energy efficient ethernet is DISABLED
-
Green ethernet is DISABLED
-
idle power saving is DISABLED
-
Monitor Settings
-
mst on
-
multi monitor sync on
-
under personalize'
-
other usb charging is set to "On in standby mode"
-
I am still in the process of testing these monitors with other configurations and seeing what may the issue be. I will update this thread if there is any solutions. If anyone has had this issues, please let me know! Thanks!
Ethan

We have been seeing the same thing. It is very random what U2422HE it is happening to as some work fine and others do not. We have tried all the "tricks" above as well and are very frustrated by this. We spent a lot of money on these hub monitors and they are not performing.

Yeah for sure, the fix that came out was only for Windows 10 and not 11 which is what we are on... It still spotty with certain users reporting no issues and other users still reporting issues with the network drops. Now that the fix is out for Windows 10, they are working on Windows 11 which I'm not sure how much longer it will be for that to be released.
