U2422HE, MacBook Pro M1, no longer showing all resolutions

When plugging in my Dell U2422HE monitor via USB-C to my Macbook Pro (M1 2020 running Ventura 13.0.1), it now only sees a max resolution of 1600 x 900. It used to pick up the max resolution of 1920 x 1080 as the default. Not only that, but plugging it in changes the display settings to where the U2422HE is the extended display rather than the main display which was how I set it previously.

If I plug the monitor in via HDMI, I get all the proper settings. With the monitor plugged in via HDMI, I performed a factory reset on the monitor, and then when I plug in the monitor via USB-C, the Macbook Pro was able to see the 1920 x 1080 resolution once. Then when I unplugged the USB-C cable and plugged it back in again, the default and max resolution once again dropped to 1600 x 900. Repeating the same factory reset using HDMI didn't repeat the same results, so once again the monitor shows 1600 x 900 as the max resolution.

I have similar issues with another Dell monitor (P2419HC), but I can typically turn off the monitor and turn it back on again and it recognizes the 1920 x 1080 resolution as the default setting. Plugging in that monitor also resets all the window locations from the extended display to the main display.

Oddly enough, the U2422HE monitor was behaving beautifully for about 2 months after purchasing it, while the P2419HC monitor frequently would drop to a low resolution forcing a reboot of the monitor. I have another P2419HC monitor at home, and it also requires a reboot of the monitor in order for the Macbook to pick up the correct resolution.

The U2422HE monitor started freaking out after I plugged in an HG TV as an extended monitor via HDMI. Once I went back to the U2422HE monitor, it went immediately schizo on me and has never been the same.

Can anyone tell me why the Dell monitors behave so erratically and how I can get them to consistently recognize the proper resolution via USB-C? I need to use USB-C as the power source through the Dell monitors, which is why HDMI isn't a good long-term solution.

To receive assistance from Dell support agents, click the "Get help now" icon on the right. Share with them the private monitor Service Tag, 20 digit serial number, and all of your troubleshooting.

The Dell P series monitors were never fully supported by Dell for macOS. Read the Pinned post at the top of this monitors board, "Dell monitor, Apple FAQ".

Used to running which macOS? I mean were you running macOS 12 Monterey, then updated to macOS 13 Ventura and then started to see issues?

The U2422HE worked fine under Monterey and Ventura. It only blew up after I connected the HG to the MacBook Pro via HDMI. Not sure what that could have done, because I never used HDMI to connect to the Dell U2422HE. I always used USB-C.
