U2711 - Left side of Screen White-out?
Hi.
Not really sure how to phrase my opportunity, so I'll just fumble with some words and hope that it makes sense.
I am the owner of a model U2711. Other than being really hot, I dig the monitor.
I bought this from Amazon.com apprx one year ago.
In the past couple of months, there have been sporadic instances of the left side of my screen having lots of white lines,
then (ultimately) turning a fuzzy, white-ish color.
I am a Mac user. I first checked to see if it was my video card a couple of different ways.
One way was to simply use my old monitor. The problems do not exist on my old monitor.
Another way was to use my screen capture software to create a "video recording" of the issue. I can not record this, even when the issue is occurring.
So I decided to take an actual picture and post it here, hoping that somebody will know of a fix for this monitor.
Like I said, it's only a year old. I do not smoke. I keep a very clean work station. I rely on my monitor for income.
This is very important to me. The only thing I did not try is a new cable from my Mac to my U2711.
I have tried the Factory Reset option from the U2711 menu.
I have also tried to LCD Refresh option from the U2711 menu.
No luck.
Thank you, and have a good day!
Scott

Couple more things I would like to add:
I have tried using different cables, different inputs, and even a different source (i.e., my Mac, and my Satellite via HDMI),
and still get the same results:

I am having exactly the same issue, and can't get Dell to respond to my support requests by email - I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but buying this in Belgium from a German Dell Dealer might now paying me back...
In any case, exactly the same issue, but the screen has not gone completely white yet. The problem is tied to the left side of the screen. I have tried the screen on 2 computers, changed the cables, and even the video card. Also, the screen acts up even when the computer is off...
Any chance to spread some of the customer service love and point me to the right person?
I have 30 days left of my 3 year warranty...
