U2721DE, DDM 2.1, enable inactive functions

Dear all,

I just installed an UltraSharp U2721DE monitor. I also installed Display Manager vs 2.1.0 (Jan 2023). As I tried to change brightness via the display manager it shows this text "Please check the online user guide to find out how to enable the inactive functions". I did search DELL support and 'the internet' but could not find the proper instructions. Please any suggestions were to look or 'how to enable inactive functions' of Display Manager 2.1

I have had the same problem with an Intel NUC 12th gen.
The solution was, install INTEL Driver assistant and when your system is suitable Intel ARC grafic system/driver.
After installing DMM 2.1 works on my system.

I struggled with this same problem forever -- turns out Updating the firmware of my monitor solved the issue. Within DDM there's an option to update Software (DDM Version) but also another option to update Firmware. Update the firmware and it may fix it

In the U2721DE Menu- Others, is DDC/CI On?

When you mouse hover on the DDM icon on the taskbar, does it list the U2721DE?

Right click the DDM icon on the taskbar, click Refresh

Do any of the DDM 2.1 Menu Launcher functions work on the U2721DE?

Dear Chris,

Thanks for responding. Here are my findings

  • DDC/CI was and is ON
  • DDM icon in taskbar lists U2721DE
  • Refresh DONE
  • The only working function in DDM 2.1 is Easy Arrange (others are greyed-out)
 


Any new insights?

Dear Chris,

Thanks for your persistance in solving this issue. U2721 is attached to a HP Z2 G4 workstation 2021. Exiting from a Mini DP-port and entering the HDMI port of U2721 via 4K/60 Hz cable.

I have tried to right-click 'anything' in displaymanager but 'Save Diagnostic Report' does nog show up unfortunately.

To what specific PC model is this U2721DE attached?
Attached using which cables and ports on both the PC and monitor?

* Exit DDM
* Launch DDM again
* Right click menu and click on ‘Save Diagnostic Report’
* Copy and post it out here

Chris,

I found out how to run a diagnostics report. However .txt and .docx and .pdf files are not supported to post in this window. Suggestions?

Do you have dropbox or similar tool to upload the report?

This user was able to copy the Diagnostic Report and post it? Perhaps they copied the Diagnostic Report into Notepad, then copied from Notepad into Forum reply?

Dear Chris,

the weTransfer link was automatically deleted bij DELL. The .TXT file is 47 pages long, do you want me to load it directly als text in this application?  Or Just give up?

That doesn't make sense to me? Other users were able to post the log as a single page?
