U2722DE, U2722D two source inputs and peripherals functionality?

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a U2722DE and U2722D. I wish to know how to have two source inputs for the U2722DE (+ U2722D through DP MST) and also use the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, ethernet connection) for both laptops?

The set up is in the block diagram below. Both laptops have USB Type-C connections. As far as I'm aware, the U2722DE has only one data and video USB Type-C upstream port. This port (USB Type-C to USB Type-C) used by whatever laptop will successfully use the peripherals and ethernet (as expected). However, the other connection I have achieved though using a USB Type-C to DP port adaptor, then DP to DP in. This will grant video access without issue. There is also a USB Type-C to USB Type-A connection in what I thought would achieve access to the peripherals. However this doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone advise as to how I can get the peripherals working on the second laptop? And if possible, how do I switch between the two sources?
