U2913WM Screen going dim?

Hi there,

I bought the Dell UltraSharp U2913WM the other day and I've got 2 issues

1) if the monitor is displaying something dark then the screen goes dim.

To explain better if Im playing a game and in-game its very dark (like in a dark cave or something) the screen will dim down.

Similarly if I'm watching a movie and theres dark scene in the movie the screen will do the same thing.

I'm sure there's a simple fix to this but have yet to find it, I have messed around with powersaving etc with no luck :/

2) There seems to be a "dot grid" just above the middle of the screen... its only noticeable on a black background but with color you wouldn't say anything is there.

Can i get this monitor exchanged (still under warranty) ?

* If you installed the Dell DDM Monitor Application, remove it, the restart the computer
* Press the Menu button to open the OSD (On Screen Display)
* Go to Other Settings
* Choose Factory Reset- Reset All Settings
* Exit the OSD
* Retest
* If you still have the issues, test a different video card port and cable to the monitor. You do not mention what ports are on the video card but there are five to test on the U2913WM (VGA, DP, mDP, DVI, HDMI)
* Retest

Thanks Chris!

Did all of the above and it seemsed to do the job, Im guessing the culprit was the DDM App... thought I have no Idea why it'd do that unless some weird  "function" lol


But onto my other problem which is slightly more problematic :/

I would agree. But since you are in South Africa, you will need to contact Dell Technical Support in that region.
