U3011 DVI to Mac mini-displayport problem
Aloha!
I've connected a new U3011 monitor to a 2010 MacBook Pro mini-displayport with the included DVI cable, and I can't get above 1600x1200 resolution. The monitor and Mac both do 2560x1600, so I suspect the DVI-to-mini-displayport adapter. It's Apple's but is 10 years old. The weirdness is that this adapter gives 1920x1200 on my ancient 23" Apple HD Cinema Display.
Waddaya think is wrong? The U3011 doesn't require any software on Macs, does it?

Fixed! I bought a Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter at monoprice.com for $14. It did nothing different in the adapter's DVI port, but in the DisplayPort port, with the monitor's supplied DisplayPort cable, I have a beautiful sharp 2560x1600.

I've found that I can't get full 2560 x 1600 on the second DVI port but the exact same cable works fine on port one.
