U3011 Resolution issues
Setup is as follows:
ASUS Sabertooth X58
Intel i7-970
OCZ Gold ram
X-25M SSD
Windows 7 64
PNY GTX 570 (263.09 and 266.58 drivers with HD audio inistalled and without)
Dell U3011
For some reason either monitor doesn't want to go past 1600x1200, any resolutions higher than this on the two U3011's I have here to test default to 1280x1600 and skew the image on DVI. VGA scale correctly at 2048x1280. I've tried with two U3011's and two different dual link DVI cables, with all of the scaling options in the NVIDIA control panel and on the monitor itself to no avail. Any thoughts?

Have to love calling tech support and getting transfered to 10 (I counted) different people before getting hung up on. Is there a Dell rep out there that can actually help someone without transfering?

You can try the following:
Some people have had luck with those steps for monitors stuck on low resolutions.

No dice, monitor still shows messed up image and thinks the resolution is 1280x1600.

Drivers are installed for the monitor, all that they contain are the color profiles anyways. As per other thread, cable is dual link.

Hmm.
Long shot stab in the dark. Did you try installing the monitor drivers in Windows 7? (I assume it is Windows 7)
Sounds like something goofy going on in Windows registry perhaps.

Actually - what does Device Manager say is the monitor installed? Generic or U3011?

U3011 (Digital), makes no difference with the driver installed vs not installed. As stated, issue is present on two different computers that are using different video cards (GTX 570 and ATI 4650)

What's really weird is the resolution - 1280 x 1600. It isn't any "normal" resolution - it seems like either Windows is halving your horizontal, or something is compressing the output down.
Just a few dumb things:

Windows shows that it is trying to output the correct resolutions, the monitor is displaying the 1280x1600.
Tried both DVI ports on both the monitor and video cards
Tried all of the scaling, timing etc settings on both of the ATI and NVIDIA control panels, same outcome. I should have a mini displayport cable here today to test if they actually will go up to the full resolution

Displayport is able to get them to the full resolution, could it be that I have four bad DVI cables or would it be more likely that the DVI ports on two different monitors are shot?

Also, does anyone know how to access the service menu on this model?

If I was to bet, I'd bet that the cables you have tried to use to date are not truly Dual Link.
I would bet against odds that two separate monitors had defective DVI ports.
Glad to hear your making progress. I just got one of these monitors via fedex the other day and am enjoying it.

I'll have to take it in next week and get it tested. For anyone that's interested in the service menu see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwf2Z0sd6Mw

Would someone be able to post their EDID information so I can compare them?
