U3023E, Mac Pro, DDM high CPU usage at idle

Hi there,

The Dell Display Manager seems to be badly optimised for macOS. Why does macOS DDM require 3%-10% CPU power in idle mode? I am using the Dell Display Manager 1.50.0.0042 with a brand new Dell U3023E display, which is connected to a Mac Pro.

The Release notes indicate that high CPU usage has been issues before. This issue has still not been fixed. The Dell Monitor hardware is great, but this system slow down is unacceptable. As soon as the DDM has been completely removed, the CPU power is gone. Will DELL ever address the CPU bug?

Chiming in.

I have experienced similar issues with DDM on my macs. U4320Q in my case. 2018 intel mini and mbp. Monterey. DDM plays somewhat nice for a while at low and constant utilization, or the software will eventually start periodically or persistently consume 1-6% utilization while doing nothing.

Doesn't appear to matter if the display is attached or not. Doesn't matter if it is connected with hdmi, displayport or usb-c alt mode w/ the usb present.

This is working as intended on the current version. This complaint has been escalated to DDM team.
