U3415w Flicker problem in games

Question

Hi i am having a problem with my dell U3415w monitor. I believe that it is a firmware problem with all the U3415w monitors. The issue is that in many games that i have tested it with there is a flicker in the game environment that is not there on any other monitor. It is only present  with movement such as panning the camera around in the game. The flicker looks very much like the flicker you can get when turning the sharpness setting up very high on monitors. The strange thing about the problem is that i can get it to go away and look 100% normal if i just change the Aspect Ratio in the monitor menu to any other setting, such as changing to wide 16:9 and then back to 21:9. Any change to that setting fixes the problem until i exit the game or alt tab out. Also changing things like resolution in game bring the flicker back. This is the second monitor i have tested, the first one i sent back thinking it was a defective one. Not sure what to do at this point and need some help, maybe a firmware update can fix the problem? FYI i have tried different Cables, Video cards and computers and pretty much every setting in game and in video card driver that i could. There are not any firmware updates listed in the U3415W File Library. If the displays team decides to release firmware, it will appear there. You need to be testing our mDP to DP cable. I would also test HDMI to HDMI. You need to update the Nvidia driver from 352.86 to 353.06 and re-test.

Thanks for the response, i re-tested with the newer Nvidia driver and unfortunately it had no effect. Also i have previously tested with both the mDP to DP cable and HDMI and it didn't change anything. But i did re-test with them on the new driver, but still the same.

From all my testing it really looks like its something with the monitor that is the problem. Many people may not notice the flicker, its very hard to see in some games. But in others its pretty easy to see, such as World of Warcraft in outdoor locations with trees, the trees show the flicker very well.

I know the display is capable of functioning correctly because of the aspect ratio trick, but im not sure i want to do that every time i get in a game.

Please test with DP 1.2 Disabled in the OSD (On Screen Display) and post your results. The picture below shows it as Enabled. It is posted to show you where to find it in the OSD.
