U3417W, not detecting source when changing inputs

I have a Dell Latitude 5411 connected to a Dell WD19 dock via USB Type-C.  From the dock, I have a DisplayPort connection to the DisplayPort connection on the back of the U3417W.  I do not know if its pertinent to the conversation, but I will include it just in case, I also have a Dell S3219D connected to the DisplayPort out on the U3417W and MTS turned on.  Everything works good there.

The other PC setup is a desktop PC, I currently have it connected to the U3417W via HDMI.  There is an issue with the display here where I get a pretty consistent "flickering".  Just hooked everything up so I need to go an update drivers and confirm no issues there.  It displays fine on the U3417W and of course does not display on the S3219D because I am using HDMI and not a DP connection.

The issue comes in when I switch sources, either using the buttons on the monitor or through the Dell Display Manager software.  When I switch back to the laptop, the monitor says it does not detect a signal and goes to sleep.  If I undock the laptop and reconnect it, it displays then.

Any thoughts?

This does allow me to switch back and forth without having to undock/redock.  But of course now both monitors dont switch over to the desktop because the pass through is not there and I would have manually change the source on the U3419W.

Unfortunately I do not have another WD19 to try out.

MarcusInCO,

We know the monitors are functioning OK. If you are sure that the Latitude 5411 drivers are up to date (BIOS, Intel Thunderbolt Controller, Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver, Intel Chipset), and the WD19TB Firmware Update is up to date, using that workaround, for now, is the only thing you can do. I think that one of those (Latitude or WD19TB) is having an issue re-negotiating the monitor daisy chain setup once you leave the Latitude 5411, go to the Desktop PC, then back to the Latitude 5411. Which points to a driver issue.

Alright. In your original setup what resolutions are the monitors outputting at? Have you tried lowering the resolutions and the tried switching sources?

Thank you for trying this. Do let us know if you have been able to swap the cables, or try using another WD19 to see if the behavior is persistent on that one as well.

Just confirmed the D6000 firmware is up to date and still not working.

Kind of my thought as well.  Can you think of any reason why the D6000 would not work w/ daisy chaining?  Does it support that?  I guess I havent checked to see if the firmware is up to date on it which I could try.

Ideally, there should be no reason why it should not work

Please send us a private message with the serial number of the dock or its service tag.

There is no reason why the D6000 SHOULD NOT work, correct?  What I am trying to do is supported?

You could check the firmware updates and see if it helps.

MarcusInCO,

Dell Dual Video D1000, USB 3.0 D3100, and Universal D6000 Docking Stations do not support Daisy Chain functionality. Click here for information.

Got it, but the WD19 does.

The work around for now is just to have them hooked up individually both from the dock and desktop and created two hot keys, one for each monitor to switch back and forth.  I suppose an extra 3 key strokes is not the end of the world

Weird it doesnt work though!
