U3421WE, failed M2B107 firmware update

Hello! I tried to run the M2B107 update but failed and every time I get " Update error, Close Monitor Firmware Update Utility, turn off monitor, replug power cord, turn on monitor and try updating again"

I tried this like 20 times and I followed all the steps mentioned in instructions. I updated to M2B106 some time ago and worked at 1st time. This one is bugged. Now I get the firmware update error every time. I can't get back to M2B106. I'm stuck with the monitor error and M2B101 and the support is useless. Never again with a Dell product. Sad that I can't return this monitor. I would do it with all my heart.

Dell policy states that a monitor return can only happen inside the first 30 days from the Dell invoice date.

What was the U3421WE hardware fault that prompted you to try to update from M2B106?

I tried with Windows version. Is there any way to download M2B106? I want to install that again, cause I have 101 now and the message that update failed and I need to retry. Didn't find something like "Older firmware versions".

M2B106 was never available for download. We only offered Windows OS M2B107 and macOS M2B107.

Dell Support is at a stand still until you provide the private U3421WE Service Tag to the private chat agent.

There is no support via chat for monitor. It shows disabled. Only phone and places to send it in warranty.

I have exactly the same issue. I successfully updated to M2B106 some time ago. But it only supports 1720x720 in HiDPI mode, so I decided to go with M2B107 and all the described above happened. I have M2B106 in my download folder, so I was able to update back from 101 to 106.

@icsul if you still need the archive with 106 just let me know. Talking to support teams has become strange from some point of time ...

Finally I managed to have the monitor updatedDon't ask me how, cause the steps were the same everytime. I don't know if they uploaded meanwhile another M2B107 fixed, but it worked. Retry to re-download and update. Thank you for help offer! Next time I know to make backups of firmwares updates, because they don't have history in firmware page.

Well, I managed to update as well but I agree, it was really odd.

I downloaded b107 for Windows, and installed it successfully from there with the first attempt. (HDMI+USB-B mode). My happiness disappeared when I tried to connect my Mac back - Type-C input seemed died (also popular issue with this firmware, as I understood). Luckily, in my case, display's factory reset helped.

I think I will not use any Dell firmware anymore before someone from the community tells me, that it is working. Also I am considering to use BetterDisplay instead of DDPM, as it operates more stable.

Hi @dtcirul , could you please share somehow the FW M2B106 with me?

Hi @DerLeoKatter ,

Unfortunately, I am far from my MacBook, where the firmware resides. I will come back from the business trip next week. Please mark if the question is still relevant.

Hi @dtcirul ,

Thank you. Actually, I have downloaded a package for linux and extract the FW from it directly. Everything works fine.
