U4021QW, MacBook, USB-C to USB-A

As I could see from the excellent Dell support, simply a stable USB connection is enough.

For my Mac, a USB-C to USB-A was sufficient, even with devices plugged in. And a Thunderbolt 4 cable that came in the box successfully ran the M2T104  <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> macOS firmware.

For Mac user see my connection solution!

What is "USB Type-C to A cable"? I did not get anything like that with the display. Which USB Type-A port on the display did you use?

Well, I do not understand? I do have a generic USB-C to USB-A cable but it won't make any difference. M1 Macbook Pro connected via bundled TB4 cable returns "The selected firmware is not for this monitor". See here

Unfortunatelly it did not make any difference. Maybe my display is defective.

Thanks, I will try if that helps. So basically both USB-C and USB-A on display are connected to you Macbook's USB-C ports?

@betelgeusecz To successfully update with my new MacBook Pro, I used the USB-A port on the monitor (see screenshot) and USB-C on the Macbook Pro. I also used the included Thunderbolt 4 cable. It also says so in the help that two cables must be used. It's just a guess, but the USB cable seems to be used to update the firmware.

I also tried with both cables connected without success. I always get "The selected firmware is not for this monitor". I tried with different machine running Windows 10, connected USB-B upstream and displayport but also got the same message.
