UltraSharp 2000FP going blank

Hi,
For some reason, my UltraSharp 2000FP has started to periodically go blank, sort of similar to what happens when a screen saver kicks in.   However, in this case, moving the mouse does not turn make the desktop visible again.  What i have to do is power off the monitor, power it back on, then move the mouse.

This issue occurs even when i am NOT idle.  Any thoughts on what may be the problem here?

My video card is the ATI-Radeon X1900 series.  I have a Dell dimension XPS-Gen 4, running Windows XP with latest SP. I recently upgraded my memory to 3 gb.

I prefer the older 2000FP over my newer FPS2005W wide screen...so i would appreciate any advice on how to correct this.

thanks much

To be sure if it's the monitor or the video card, you can run the self test. Just remove the Video cable from the back of the monitor (VGA/VDI) and let the monitor there... If the same happen, something with the monitor is wrong. If nothing happens, seems to be a configuration of the power options...
What version of Windows are you using?

It is difficult get much out of the test you suggest because it happens randomly.  I am running Windows XP with the latest service pack installed.

I downloaded the latest drivers from my ATI Radeon X1900 and installed them.
